I’m ecstatic to share that Between the Trees has been selected as a finalist in the American Fiction Awards in the Coming of Age category!!!! So excited and grateful. 💛 So many years poured into this book, so many smiles, so many tears, so much growth both as an author and a person... Between the Trees is so special to me. It is me. For it to be recognized in this way is such an honor.
If you’ve read Between the Trees, I would love to hear from you! And if you have a moment, I’d be so grateful for a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. ❤️🙏🏼

Beyond Kathryn Lucas’ first memory of her father’s tree lay a dysfunctional path of violence, heartbreak, and secrets within a family severely entrenched in the vicious cycle of abuse. A lifetime of fear drives her from her home, and the teenage girl finds refuge with an aunt and uncle determined to protect their niece.
Distressing flashbacks unravel in Kathryn’s fragile mind among the turmoil encircling her as she struggles through adolescence and descends into her pain-ridden past. When the summation of her unsettling memories allows the darkness to overtake her, she becomes desperate to unearth the light.
Inspired by a true story, Kathryn must hold on tightly to those who love her, searching for her place in a world threatening to break her as she fights to overcome life’s betrayals before she is deprived of her future.

I received the most beautiful feedback regarding Amazing Amy. A reader reached out to us to tell us her story about reading Amazing Amy to her children, one of whom has autism but didn’t know yet. While reading Amazing Amy, her son related to certain characteristics and behaviors that Amy has. This created the opportunity to have a dialogue about autism and to reveal to her son and daughter that her son has autism. How incredible. What an honor.
Robin and I are nothing short of astounded. As autism moms, we know the moment of telling your child of their diagnosis. We know the thought, care, and emotion that goes into it. We know the months and years spent trying to decide on just the right moment and the right way to tell your child something this important and life changing. The fact that our book played a role in that moment for another autism mom, that she felt our book created the right opportunity to tell her son of his diagnosis is a great honor. We are truly, truly honored and so thankful this wonderful mother shared her experience with us.
In only a week, Amazing Amy has reached people in ways I hoped and in ways I didn’t even expect. I’m so excited to see what else Amazing Amy can become.
Those of my friends and followers who work with autistic children, I’d be so grateful if you felt you wanted to share this feedback with your families. 💙💙 Find Amazing Amy here: http://mybook.to/AmazingAmyLWAB1

Happy Autism Awareness Day! Amy’s lighting it up blue for school today and, of course, had to rock her puzzle pants! 🧩 She loves her noise-canceling headphones that dull noise and give her head slight pressure. Her chewy necklace allows her safe chewing to meet her oral sensory needs, which is also why she sucks her finger. And of course, she has her favorite peep, which she never goes anywhere without. Amy is a strong sensory seeker, and I’m so thankful for what is available to children on the spectrum now. THAT is what awareness brings to these beautiful children. #autism #autismawareness #autismawarenessday #AmazingAmy
